Much of the phenomena that has occurred here seem in some way connected to Gilbert. When renovations were taking place prior to the opening of the restaurant, workers claim to have seen an apparition of a small boy throughout the building. Sounds of toys falling down the master staircase were always investigated with no toys being found. An electric sander lying on a table suddenly turned itself on. Noises similar to that of a small child playing were often heard by the owners in the early morning hours when they were working in the restaurant. A music box long broken suddenly started playing one day for no apparent reason.
In the ice cream parlor section of the restaurant, the staff was shocked one day to see the chocolate syrup start flowing from its dispenser until it drained itself all over the counter and floor. A waitress carrying a pasta and shrimp dish out to a table of customers was stunned as she felt a hand come up between hers flipping the dish high in the air and all over the floor. The table of customers and other staff saw the event and all said there is no way she could have flung the dish up in the air with such force. All were quoted as saying it was like someone placed a hand between her's, flipping the dish. Oftentimes, the door between the kitchen and the restaurant is held shut by an unseen force. Suddenly, it lets go.
A dark, shadowy figure has been seen a number of times through out the building. The light at the top of the 1st floor staircase goes on and off at will and a strong intimidating feeling of a presence is also reported at that spot. Cold spots are reported throughout the house but especially at this location.
Many people who enter the room that was once Gilbert's bedroom complain of feeling uncomfortable or the feeling of a presence without knowing what room it is or the story of the house. At one point in time, the owner and staff of Miss Crabtree's were shocked and stunned at the appearance of handwriting on the outside part of the door of Gilbert's room. The handwriting was written in a style and height of a young boy and said "GILBERT ROOM". No one knows how the writing got there.
