Blade
While this is not truly a horror film, it has a dark theme and is worth reviewing here. Blade is a live-action rendition of a comic book character. This film is like a mixture of a Batman movie and The Terminator.
Blade is a half-vampire, and the explanation of how this came to be figures into the story line. He currently fights full-fledged vampires, using his powers and the help of a techno-geek Willie-Nelson-type character. Like Batman, Blade has some cool toys, but unlike Batman, Blade uses them to kill, and he does so with much vigor and creativity. But it's OK because he only kills vampires, see?
This is a fun movie, and worth seeing, even if just to get yet another view of what vampires are all about. (These are NOT Anne Rice's type of vampire.)
