Evolution
Ever since I saw that preview where the guy gets creamed by the meteor, I have wanted to see this flick. It did not disappoint me.
Nobody ever says it, but the casting of the guy from X-Files adds just the perfect bit of parody to this movie. We have the "Make & - Up Yours" guy for comic relief, and a beautiful, albeit somewhat clumsy female scientist to complete the mix. The movie does have it's gross-out moments, but they seem entirely appropriate to this film. (It is nowhere near as crude as the second Austin Powers film, for example.)
It is by no means a perfect movie. The clumsy act for the female scientist seems forced, and ultimately seems pointless as it plays no part in the flow of the movie. For example, I would have expected her to trip just as a thing tries to get her, so you could say her clumsiness saves her... nothing like that happens.
The scene in the mall is priceless, especially the singing bit. What a hoot. No wonder the critter tries to eat him!
I just have to wonder if that shampoo company is glad they chose their product to play such an important role in the film... or not? Hmmm... considering where they squirted it, and the end result, I imagine there may be some executives sleeping poorly...
Bottom line, Evolution is a fun romp of a movie. No chills, only a little messing with your head, but four eyeballs for just being a fun flick to go see.
