Ghost and the Darkness
Despite the name, this is not a ghost story, at least not in the usual sense.
Part of what makes this such a good story is that it's true. It is set in Africa and it concerns a pair of lions who go on a killing spree, defying conventional wisdom about lion behavior. Part of what makes this such a good story is the almost human intelligence the two lions display. The natives believe the lions are possessed by evil human spirits, and by the middle of the movie, you are giving the idea some serious consideration.
Great acting, many good chills, lots of suspense, a hint of supernatural involvement. Definitely worth renting or buying. But be warned... it may dampen any ambitions to go on a safari.
