Scary Movie Reviews
3000 Miles to Graceland
OK, OK, so this is not even remotely a horror film.
But I decided to include it in the reviews because it is a disturbing film. This is essentially a formula bank heist movie, except the gimmicks are that they are heisting a casino and they are doing it dressed as Elvis (which is kinda disturbing in itself...). There are many many things blowing up, many many people being shot, and many many car chases, all in all, everything that America seems to love in a movie.
But what I found disturbing is that I found myself liking the lead characters... people who just killed a dozen casino guards just doing their jobs, and even more innocent bystanders just there to gamble. And in the process they manage to inflict their point of view on life on an young boy. There seems to be little of redeeming value to these "anti-heroes", yet I was manipulated into identifying and cheering for them. But the movie made me like them... How did this happen?
Anyway, I suspect my sensitivity to horrible things makes me more aware of the irony and the mind control of Hollywood, but when it was all said and done, I liked the movie. Four eyeballs.
