Interview with the Vampire
If you have visited the Books section of my reviews, you already know that Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors, so it is no surprise that I enjoyed this movie.
While it doesn't produce much in the way of true chills or disturbing imagery, it is still a good rendition of Anne Rice's famous book by the same name. It is fun to immerse yourself in this alternate world, to identify with beings that live generations longer but must shun the light. The story is suitably gothic, the imagery both decadent and horrible, and a steady erotic current runs throughout.
Fans of the Brat Pack will not be disappointed with the performances of the male leads, and the young girl vampire pulls off her role with remarkable ability. Special effects are subtle yet effective, and the story line is smooth. You end up caring about these blood-drinkers.
Very good movie to rent or own. Enjoy!
