Scary Movie Reviews
Monsters, Inc.
OK, OK, so it isn't a scary movie (unless you are a 4 year old), but it DOES have monsters in it!
This is a hoot of a film, so technologically advanced that you soon forget about the high-tech wizardry that created it and you simply immerse yourself in the story. Despite the big shaggy beast and the green eyeball, this is essentially a "buddy film". John Goodman and Billy Crystal are a great match, and they have a convincing chemistry.
The story is well written and had no obvious flaws that I could see. The animation is so good that you stop noticing it very quickly. If you can tear your attention away from the story long enough to take notice, you would be amazed at the amount of detail in every facet of the rendering, even subtle things like shadows and reflections in unimportant parts of the background.
Again, only the very young would be frightened by this movie, but it could be considered training wheels for the budding monster movie fan. Everyone else will simply laugh their ass off.
Go see it. Go buy it. Have fun!
