Pitch Black
Wow, what a fun ride!
Pitch Black is a great sci-fi / horror flick, with a fun cast and some great special effects. The pacing is relentless, and the scenes where the light is about to fail makes you positively claustrophobic... convinced there is something just out of sight... something that wants you for dinner!
While transporting a dangerous prisoner, a transport ship is forced to crash-land on an inhospitable planet. While the light of the multiple suns is shining, all is well, but once every millennium, all the suns are eclipsed, and the surface of the planet becomes pitch black. And there is something on this planet that only comes out at night... Soon the survivors are depending on their wits and their prisoner for survival.
This one keeps you guessing. I was pleased to see one of my favorite female characters from the TV show, Farscape, cast in this movie. They did manage to throw a few curves, too, killing off some characters that you might have pegged as survivors.
Great rental. Go out and get this one, then turn out the lights and hold on!
