Queen of the Damned

This sort-of-sequel to Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire" has its good points and its bad.

The good points are that it is a fun vampire flick, with lots of action, very cool special effects, and a gripping story line. Nurse Spasm said that the fellow playing Lestat in this movie was sexier and more believable than Tom Cruise. Even people who are not particularly into Vampire movies will enjoy this one. You don't have to be a fan of Anne Rice's stories to follow the plot, although it doesn't hurt. Which brings me to the bad points...

You will notice that Anne Rice did not "bless" this movie as she did for "Interview". The reasons are obvious to those who have read Queen of the Damned, and realize just how many liberties the film makers took with details of the storyline. The big climax is sufficiently different from the book version to appear to have come from a differnt tale altogether. On the other hand, I will give credit that the ending works, and those unfamiliar with the original story will notice nothing amiss.

In any event, the purest in me has had his say, and I can stil say that Queen of the Damned is worth the 4 eyeballs you see below.

Chill Factor
Disturbance Factor
Eyeball Factor
