Road Warrior

Here's a classic film for ya!

The Road Warrior sports some of the wildest car chases and bizarre outfits ever dreamed up on film. It does have something of a 70's feel to it, but it still manages to hold audiences interest in this day and age. There is more gore implied than seen, although some may enjoy the scene where a bad guy tries to catch a razor-edged boomerang (oh yeah, this is filmed in Australia).

This is the second in the three Mad Max films. The first was Mad Max, and was pretty slow and plodding for the first half, but it picks up interest in the second half. The third in the series was Mad Max - Thunderdome, who some may remember starred Tina Turner as a villain... or was she? It helps give you some background if you rent Mad Max first, but this movie can stand on it's own if you don't ask too many questions.

In any case, be aware that there is a rape scene, and what appears to be people burned at the stake. The stunts are great and creative, and if you get the "special edition" tape, they have a "making of" section that gives you the inside track on the stunts. There are not really any chills in this movie, although some scenes may be disturbing. It is still a worthwhile rental.

Enjoy.
