Scary Movie
This Scary Movie is not scary, but it is a funny spoof of many of the recent scary movies out there. It is a quite creative blend of story lines that still somehow manages to hold together while poking fun at several different flicks.
However, I have to admit that the humor often dips below the good taste threshold, seemingly to appeal to the vast audience of 13 year old boys out there. They like that kind of stuff...
There is one scene that I really appreciate... the woman in a movie theater who answers her cell phone and starts yapping during the film in the film, much to the dismay and frustration of the audience. (Scuttles recently encountered this same situation while watching The Exorcist remake. He caused a few people to wet themselves when he dematerialized and scuttled around the theater, yanking phones out of inconsiderate idiot's hands and bashing them on the floor. The poor saps thought the demons from the Exorcist movie did it and went home to get a change of underwear. Now that was fun!)
Anyway, Scary Movie is fun, particularly if you have already seen "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream". If you are in a particularly brainless (and tasteless) mood, go ahead and rent and enjoy.
