Ghostly Baby

Here is a story about my dad seeing a ghost in our old house. I didn't have to interview him because I've asked about this story a thousand times. I think it's SO cool!

When we were living in our old house, I was only a baby and my older brother and sister were about 4 yrs old and 5 yrs old. It was Christmas Eve and my mum and dad were wrapping presents at the kitchen table while all of us kids were asleep upstairs. Suddenly my dad felt something brush against his leg, he said it felt like a cat or a baby crawling. Right away he looked under the table to see if anything was there, and there wasn't. He asked my mom if she had just done that and she was like "done what?" she was confused, so my dad told her what he felt.

They kept wrapping presents, and then it happened again! He looked under the table really fast to make sure it wasn't my mom, and it wasn't her. There was nothing there, and my mom thought he was crazy. So again, they went back to wrapping papers.

My dad looked up at the stairs to his right, for no reason at all, and saw a baby sitting on one of the middle steps between the bars of the handrail. He said she was giggling and smiling, and wearing a pea outfit... like the one Pop Eye the sailor's baby wore. He turned to my mom and asked her if she saw that, and they both looked back and it was gone.

My mom didn't see it, but she saw how my dad was reacting and knew he wasn't lying about feeling and seeing something. My dad went upstairs to make sure all of us were in bed, and we were. That would have been weird enough, but there's more to this story!

About 4 years later my mom and dad were sitting on the couch by a window that looks out into the driveway. Well, my mom looked out and noticed a man sitting in a car across the street just staring at our house. My mom ignored it at first, but then she looked back a little later and saw that he was still starring at our house. She told my Dad, because she was getting freaked out.

So my dad went outside and asked the man "what can I do for you?" and the man was just like "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause any problems. I was just looking at your house. See, I used to live there when I was a kid." My dad was like "Oh really? That's neat." and the guy said "Yeah, but we moved when my baby sister died of pneumonia." Obviously, that was the baby he felt crawl by his leg at the kitchen table, and the baby he saw on the steps.

Our whole family is still fascinated by this story, and I just wish I was old enough back then to realize what had happened in my house!

(Pretty freaky...)
