Another Visit to Rose Hall, Jamaica
(To see an account of Scuttle's visit, click HERE)
While I was in Jamaica two weeks ago, I tried to set up an evening to visit the house (Rose Hall, Jamaica) at night even spend the night within it's walls. My first hang up was that I could not find ANYONE that could, or would allow me to do so. Second, was that the property was heavily secured while I was there. The attempt to climb the fence and trespass seemed to be totally out of the question in the minds of those who traveled with me. Plus, I was not to clear on what the judicial punishment for trespassing was going to be in Jamaica. So I decided to let it go... hoping that perhaps some day, I could return to the Island and conduct my own research of what EXACTLY did happen there on the property.
My photos were taken with a rather older 35 mm camera, a CANNON AE-1. I purchased the camera from a friend that was to marry in September of 1986. I feel the camera takes great photos. I also saw something in the headboard of Annie's bed, a face of a man, quite possible the face of Annie. I have shown the photo to others that were there with me that week. They all saw the face of Annie. I brought the photo to my friends that stayed here in California, and they saw the face of a man. I have been told by them that this could very well be one of Annie's Husbands, or possible the face of Tackoo watching over the bed when people are in the house.
The picture that was taken of the entrance to the dungeon under the stairs, taken with a flash, was very dark, like no flash was used. The famous mirror that was also in the house I photographed. I was sure to be in the end of the group that was touring the house. When we came to the mirror, I wanted to make sure that everyone took their pictures of it, and left the room as the tour went on. While I was alone in the room, I saw a black man about 5' 7" tall walk across the room. He was traveling away from the group in the opposite direction. I saw his reflection in the mirror. Very fast, but clear. He didn't look at the mirror, so all I saw was the side of his face. When I turned to look at the rest of the room, I saw nobody. Also, there was no black men in the group. The man I saw that day, was wearing a tan striped shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbow. He also wore a hat. He resembled a character from the book Tom Sawyer. I mentioned the man to a friend of mine that was with us on the tour, and he told me, and I quote, "Shut the hell up!" If you remember, there was a birdcage in the room as well. I watched the cage sway back and forth but felt no breeze in the room.
While in the dungeon area of the house, I smelled the scent of dried blood. I have been a Paramedic for the past ten years. I described the smell to my friend who was with me that day. He said I smell something. I asked him...."What do you smell?"... "What do you feel?" He stated to me that it smelled like death and he felt kind of weird in this part of the house. As the tour guide entered into this part of the house, we all learned that this was the dungeon. Up to this point in the tour, neither my friend or myself knew that this was a dungeon and that Annie tortured slaves there. Some may say that it was musk in the air. I smelled blood. I can't explain the smell any further.
